The second being, that you’re creating a wildlife pond that will mainly have plants and a small number of fish – creating a natural balance instead.

It is a simple process to create a natural balance. However, it can take a very long time to build a balanced nitrogen cycle within your pond. This is why most people decide on using a filter.

A biological filter can be thought of like a mini sewage system for your pond. The filter creates a large surface area. The area then becomes home to millions of helpful bacteria. The filter keeps the bacteria oxygenated. This is done by passing pond water through the filter constantly.

Ultra Violet Clarifier.

Ultra Violet Clarifiers (UVC) are commonly combined with a biological filter. The purpose of the UVC is to rid the pond of green water and kill harmful bacteria.

When the water passes through the UVC it’s subjected to U.V. lighting. This causes the single cell algae to be placed together. They are collected and broken down by the biological filter. This eliminates green water!
