A biological filter can be thought of like a mini sewage system for your garden pond. The filter creates a large surface area. The area then becomes home to millions of helpful bacteria. The filter keeps the bacteria oxygenated by passing pond water through the filter constantly.

Ultra Violet Clarifier.

An Ultra Violet Clarifier (UVC) are most commonly combined with a biological filter. The purpose of the UVC is to rid the garden pond of green water and kill harmful bacteria.

When the water passes through the UVC it’s subjected to U.V. lighting. This causes the microscopic single cell algae to be placed together. They are collected and broken down by the biological filter. This eliminates green water!
